AI Bootcamp:
General Questions:
1. Are there any Pre-requisite for this AI bootcamp?
Ans: There are no pre-requisites for this camp. No math or coding background needed.
2. Can I get some discounts?
Ans: Use our early bird discount of $50 off plus additional referral discounts.
Students/Parents:
1. My child is in high school. Will this camp help during college applications?
Ans: Knowledge of AI is very important for any career going forward. Getting in to top and Ivey league colleges is also very difficult due to stiff competition. We will help your child build a profile by:
a. Giving a ground up training on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
b. Students will do hands on projects with No code tools and/or Python
c. The projects can be used to create short videos. Such videos are needed by some colleges such as MIT.
d. We will have alumni of Stanford University cover a special session for students.
e. Students will get a certificate after completing a test/assignments.
2. My child is planning a non-STEM program for college. Should they still learn about AI?
Ans. Short answer is Yes since AI will affect all disciplines.
E.g. In the near future, Doctors, Lawyers, Architects, Artists, Business/Finance professionals etc. will all be using AI in their professions.
a. The 1st phase of this transition has started wherein these professionals are using AI tools as 'assistants'.
b. In the 2nd phase, these tools will mature to a point where routine work will be done by AI and the professionals will only be involved in edge cases or validation of the work accomplished by AI.
3. My child is interested in Computer Science. Will 'coding' skill become irrelevant in the advent of AI?
Ans: Simple answer is No. A self driving car can go to a destination. But we still need to tell the car where to go. One scenario is the demand for programmers may decrease. Alternative scenario is that programmers will become far more efficient and they can achieve a lot more in the same time using AI tools.
Professionals:
1. I do not have software development background. Can I still learn and use AI?
Ans: A lot of people have a misconception that AI is software development. There are a lot of no code tools available. If it helps, my background is Electronics Engineering and medical device design in Siemens with no prior coding background.
2. I am a professional with domain expertise that I do no wish to throw away. Should I still learn AI?
Ans: For professionals, it is about how to use AI in your own domain. Not become Python programmers. AI needs domain expertise to develop, train and validate models. With AI knowledge, you can convert the threat of losing your job in to an opportunity.
3. Can you give examples of how domain expertise can be used in AI?
Ans: AI can be used in legal, finance, marketing, R&D, manufacturing, Service and everything in between. E.g. In the healthcare example, doctors and clinicians are needed to train and validate models to avoid adverse effects on patients. Same would be the example of use of AI in paralegal work.
I will give my own example. I had electro-mechanical medical device design experience in Siemens. The AI patents that I filed in Siemens are on precision fluidics, cloud infrastructure for service diagnostics and manufacturing support and chemistry assay development.
4. Should I still learn Python to do AI?
Ans: We will cover the basics of Python in this bootcamp (along with other no code tools). Python is very easy to learn in a week for most people since the syntax is very forgiving. Basic knowledge of Python is helpful since it improves communication with programmers and data scientists.
5. I have a full time job. How can I attend the camp?
Ans: The sessions will be online twice a week from 5.30-7.30 pm ET to allow professionals to attend part time. Assignments can be done by putting in 2 hrs over the weekend.
